Dear Web Site Visitor,

Hello from all your favorite Philly Boy Santa Speedo Runners! It’s that time of year again! I know most of you think that means putting on hats, warm sweaters, and drinking hot cocoa, but we’re talking about Santa Speedo Run time of year.

First off, a BIG THANKS to everyone who helped us raise more money than anyone expected in the previous years. We can only hope to come up with even more for charity this year.

As many of you know have come to know, over the past few years we have traveled from Philly to Boston to participate in the Santa Speedo Run in order to raise money for various charities while inflating our ego's and embarrassing ourselves. Some of you might know it’s true history, and some of you may not.

The Santa Speedo Run was started as a random act in 2000 by several Boston guys as of something “different” to do on a cold December weekend. Clothed in just a Speedo, these grown men ran through the streets of Boston to celebrate the holiday season. Since then, Santa Speedo Run has grown into one of the largest charity events in Boston. Runners from across the nation collect donations for that year’s chosen charity for the opportunity to collectively run through the streets of Boston wearing only a Speedo. In 2004, a few guys in Philadelphia heard of this event. Thus, the Philly Boys were born.

The rest has been history. Between 2004, 2005, and 2007, the Philly Boys have raised over $6,000 dollars and are the single largest group travelling from the farthest distance for the Boston Santa Speedo Run. We have grown not only in numbers and donations, but also in cult following. Last year, on Saturday, December 15th, 2007, twelve Philly Boys traveled to Boston with two goals in mind: (1) deliver a gigantic check to help the homeless women and children of Boston (2) run aimlessly through the streets of Boston wearing one article of swimwear which, more often than not, strikes fear into the hearts of men: a bright red, entirely too small, Speedo. Our smiling faces, wild chants, and "Philly Boys" tattooed on our backs, made us easily identified by locals as the group from Philly. With holiday cheer in our hearts and spirits in our stomach, we hit the snow lined streets of Boston at 1:00 pm. Braving 14 degree weather with a 7 mph head wind, the Philly Boys led a pack of 375 Speedo-clad Santas through the streets with a fervor driven by pure madness and unbridled joy.

The Philly Boys took Boston by storm, presenting a check, measuring 2' x 5', which represented more than $3,300 dollars in donations. As a whole, the 2007 event raised over $90,000 dollars and included between 350 and 400 runners; almost doubling the numbers in both categories from 2006. This accomplishment was only made possible by donations from those friends and family of the runners. The Philly Boys are only a vision.

It’s YOU who make it a reality.

It’s YOU who make the difference.

After much deliberation, we figured that the best way to thank all of you is to represent Philadelphia again and head to the frigid streets of Boston on December 13th for the homeless and underprivileged children across the country.

So please, any donation, even the smallest one, is appreciated and goes to bring joy to an underprivileged child during this holiday season. All you need to do is click the Donate button below.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO YOU AND YOURS!

Thanks AGAIN and PLEASE don’t forget to donate!

Love,

The Philly Boys
